Names worth a closer look.

Our scanner reads a fixed list of liquid US stocks and ETFs through the session and ranks the ones doing something unusual for them: a move, a gap or a range measured against their own average true range. Each pick is logged before anyone knows how it turns out.

Latest picks from the Fri, Oct 30, 3:50 PM ET pass.

How it works

The rules, fixed in advance.

The scanner runs every 15 minutes in market hours on a modest, fixed universe. A name scores a point for each reason it meets: a move of a large share of its daily ATR, a gap at the open, a wide day range, or trading at the day’s high or low. The top scores become the picks.

Each pass also draws a seeded random set from the same universe and logs it beside the picks, so the picks can later be compared against chance.

What it does not tell you: direction, an entry or a stop. It narrows the list. The chart decides.

APOLLO ONE draws the level, the entry, the stop and your size on the chart.
